About Psychotherapy Now
Psychotherapy Now provides an environment in which the licensed therapist directs and supervises AI-assisted sessions. The therapist remains fully responsible for clinical decisions, guidance, and session direction, while the system functions strictly as a controlled tool within the therapeutic process to increase awareness and support behavioral change.
WHO WE ARE
I'm Jonathan Kogen, PhD. I am a New York State Licensed Psychologist. I've been in the private practice of psychotherapy for over 50 years. The major influences on my approach to psychotherapy have been Fritz Perls, John Pierakkos, Alexander Lowen, Milton Erickson, NLP and the behavioral therapies in general. This website is my creation.
Psychotherapy Now
Experience Psychotherapy Now
I’d like to invite you to try Psychotherapy Now, a new AI-assisted resource created specifically for licensed therapists.
Psychotherapy Now is designed to do something quite different from the typical mental-health chatbot. It combines elements of Gestalt therapy, behavioral/CBT approaches, NLP and my own approach to therapy in an interactive, experiential format that can be used for professional training, personal exploration, or with the therapist present as part of work with a client.
Try It on Yourself First
One of the easiest ways to understand what Psychotherapy Now can do is simply to experience it.
Bring it a real issue, something you are struggling with, a decision you are trying to make, a recurring pattern, a relationship difficulty, or simply something about yourself you would like to understand better.
Rather than merely offering advice, and a generic approach, the AI is designed to help you slow down, notice what is happening in the present moment, explore how you are organizing the experience, consider alternative ways of responding, and experiment with new possibilities.
For a therapist, this can also be a form of experiential training: you can observe how different therapeutic approaches are integrated in real time and consider techniques or questions you might want to incorporate into your own clinical work.
Then Try It with a Client
Psychotherapy Now can also be used while you are actually present with a client. In this setting,
The system includes a private therapist “whisper” function that allows you to interrupt, redirect, change the tone or depth of the interaction, or tell the AI where you would like it to go next. Think of it less as replacing the therapist and more as giving the therapist an unusual new clinical instrument, one that can help create experiences, questions, perspectives, and interventions in real time.
It can be particularly interesting when therapy feels repetitive or stuck, when a client understands something intellectually but has difficulty experiencing it differently, or when you simply want to introduce another way of looking at what is happening.
Clinical Notice & Scope
Psychotherapy Now does not diagnose and is not intended to replace psychotherapy or the judgment of a licensed clinician. In supervised client use, the clinician remains present and in control.
Why I Created Psychotherapy Now
I created Psychotherapy Now because I wanted to explore a simple question:
“Can AI expand what a skilled therapist is able to do without trying to replace the therapist?”
I think the best way to answer that question is to experience it yourself.
What Makes Psychotherapy Now Particularly Distinctive?
What makes Psychotherapy Now particularly distinctive is not simply that it uses advanced artificial intelligence, but how that intelligence has been programmed to process and respond within a therapeutic context. Its clinical architecture was developed to integrate therapeutic approaches that are ordinarily taught and practiced separately, including the present-centered, experiential methods of Gestalt therapy; the structured, change-oriented strategies of behavioral and cognitive approaches; and the representational and experiential techniques associated with NLP. Rather than mechanically selecting a technique from a collection of interventions, the system is designed to follow the unfolding process of the individual: attending to language, emotion, patterns of thought and behavior, internal representations, avoidance, incongruities, and what is occurring in the immediate interaction and using that information to determine where the exploration might most productively go next. It is this specialized programming, the attempt to reproduce the flexibility, responsiveness, and theoretical integration of an experienced clinician that makes Psychotherapy Now an unusually ambitious application of artificial intelligence to psychotherapy and professional training.
